Comprised of two experienced teachers and pianists, The Honest Pianist has become a hub of knowledge about all things piano-related, especially the field of educating both adults and children in playing the piano.
As a result, we feel it's the right time to open up our own virtual piano studio, offering lessons online from the comfort of your own home.
What We Offer; Skype Piano Lessons
We're offering private, one-to-one online piano lessons with a highly experienced teacher. Irrespective of where you live, you can now access top-level piano teaching expertise from master pianists and teachers, without ever leaving your home.
All you'll need is a piano or keyboard, an internet connection and a laptop or a phone. Our lessons suit those who live in remote areas, pupils who are unable to travel to lessons or those who cannot find a specialist piano teacher in their area.
We teach all levels and all ages, from as young as 5 to as old as 80. Irrespective of your schedule, we can teach you to play the piano!
Online lessons are designed to fit around your schedule. If you're busy, you travel often, or are a student who just simply can't find the time to go to a local piano teacher, we can help.
Our lessons are bespoke to you, and based on your past experience with the piano as well as what your goals are.
We can teach any style, any genre and any piece. However, we focus on traditional classical styles. We have a comprehensive instruction routine that focuses on you as a musician, and how we can best give you the skills to learn any piece by yourself without needing a teacher. This is based on rigorous instruction around sight-reading, scales and technical work, and examinations. We can teach to any exam board; ABRSM, Trinity or RCM. We are also able to teach collaborative piano (accompaniment.)
For students who do not want to take examinations and simply want to learn piano for pleasure, we've also got you covered, and won't ask you to play through scales or technical work if you're not interested in it.
Each student starts with a consultation lesson. We get to know you as a musician and a person; what your musical interests and goals are, what your background is, what your schedule is, and how we can best fit our piano lessons around your lifestyle.
We'll then listen to you play, if you already have experience with the piano. This allows us to propose a way forward with your lessons, and we'll give you an estimated timeframe as to when you might expect to reach your goals, based on a practice scheduled that is adhered to.
Here are just a few of the things some of our students have to say about lessons with us.
My piano skills improved immensely under PianoReviewer's tuition; their method and style of teaching is second-to-none. I thoroughly recommend them as a piano tutor for any age or skill set.
Even though I was totally new to the piano, Jack's patient and relaxed demeanor made it a pleasure to learn with him. His teaching was adaptable and focused, which made learning the piano a very enjoyable experience. I would not hesitate to recommend him.
Our Pricing Structure
We offer a very simple and transparent pricing structure for all our students.
Our flat rate is $55 per hour. We are also able to offer half-hour lessons for $27.50, but we find hourly lessons tend to lead to the best results.
Our payment schedules and further information will be available in your onboarding pack, which you'll receive when you sign up to lessons. For further information, please get in touch with us.
What you'll also get with us
Our Video Conferencing Software
We keep things as easy as possible; all our lessons are conducted through Skype.
Regular Piano Recitals
A vitally important part of learning to play any instrument is learning to perform in front of other people. Through our conferencing software we're able to offer virtual piano recitals, where you'll get your chance to play in front of fellow students!
Simply dial in at the appropriate time, and make sure your mic and video are working. You'll get the chance not only to play through your piece, but receive feedback from other teachers and students. This is a very important learning experience for our students, but is completely optional; you don't have to take part if you don't want to!
Bespoke Practice Schedules
We take the time to understand your personal schedule. If you're busy and on the road most of the time, no problem. We'll put together a bespoke practice diary for you to follow that fits around your schedule. We can discuss this with you and let you know how much practice you'll need to do to reach the level you want to reach.
We have a defined list of lesson policies that we'll send to you when we sign you up for lessons. You can expect detailed information on:
- How to schedule lessons
- Communication with your teacher
- Cancellation and Rescheduling
- Learning materials and books you'll require
You can also expect very simple, easy to follow instructions on how to get your microphone and video set up, as well as tips and tricks on making the most of your lessons.
You can purchase your first trial lesson on the website, with payments handled by PayPal. If you sign up for more regular lessons, we can either take payment through PayPal, or we can take payment directly via bank transfer using GoCardless.
